01 · CHECK A CLAIM · 5 MINUTES

Would you believe Byte?

Byte says, “Every bird can fly!” What would you do?

Grown-up conversation guide

Ask: “Can you think of a bird that doesn’t fly?” Penguins and ostriches are two examples. Find one together in a book or a trusted educational source. Explain that AI can give incorrect answers even when they sound confident.

Try it again: Let your child invent a claim. Find a way to check it together.

02 · PROTECT PRIVATE DETAILS · 5 MINUTES

What should stay private?

Choose a detail that a child should keep out of an AI chat.

Grown-up conversation guide

Keep real names, addresses, school names, passwords, and personal photos out of these practice activities. Use made-up characters instead. Ask: “How could we change a real detail into a pretend one?”

03 · PRACTICE ORIGINAL THINKING · 10 MINUTES

Invent a marvelous helper.

  1. Draw a robot that helps with one everyday task.
  2. Give it one silly feature only you could invent.
  3. Tell a grown-up why you chose those details.

Extra challenge: Your grown-up suggests a new feature. Decide whether to keep it, change it, or leave it out. You are the designer.

Your ideas matter.

Ask: “Which part feels most like you?” An AI suggestion can be a starting point; your child still gets to make the creative choices.
